Scarborough Town Hall
Planning Services incorporates three services: Building Control, Development Management and Forward Planning.

Through the preparation of local planning policies, and encouragement of well designed and constructed developments these services work towards improving the environment, not only in our towns and villages but also in our countryside, making it a desirable place to live and work.

Building Control

Building Control is responsible for ensuring that buildings are properly designed and constructed so as to ensure health, safety, welfare and convenience of the people using them.   From 1 April 2008 the Council's Building Control Service is provided by the North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership who will be able to help you will any queries about construction of your development and the Building Regulations.

Development Management

Development Management  deals with all matters related to planning and associated applications including Listed Building, Conservation Area, Advertisement and Works to Trees applications.  The Planning Application pages will provide you with information and advice on all aspects of the planning process including planning applications, planning appeals, planning committees and planning enforcements.

Appeal documents can be viewed against the original case reference. However, this service is not available for enforcement appeals which can be viewed by using the following link.
